Reinforced barbed tape, or Egoza barbed wire , is a modern analogue of conventional barbed wire, more advanced in design and superior to its prototype in almost all respects. Although ordinary barbed wire performs the tasks of protecting the territory of objects quite well, at present it cannot guarantee reliable protection. For reliable protection of property, the most effective is the use of Egoza barbed wire and various types of fences, in the design of which reinforced Egoza barbed tape is used.
Egoza barbed wire design
The design of Egoza reinforced razor tape is quite simple and at the same time reliable. Unlike conventional barbed wire, which is made entirely from low-carbon wire, usually uncoated, Egoza's design uses spring-loaded high-carbon steel wire coated with zinc, as well as barbed tape made from galvanized coiled steel. There are two fundamentally different types of Egoza barbed wire: reinforced Egoza barbed tape of the crimped type - AKL Egoza, and reinforced twisted Egoza barbed tape of the twisted type - ASKL Egoza. Depending on the type of Egoza, in its design the razor tape is either wrapped or compressed around a steel core. This Egoza is much stronger than ordinary barbed wire, and, in addition, has a significantly longer effective service life due to the use of galvanized materials in the Egoza design.
Types: regular and specialized
The familiar type of classic barbed wire is made from metal thread. Its sections are woven in such a way that the pointed ends stick out on both sides. A corrugated braid is a braid woven from two such metal threads, and it is more dangerous for a potential intruder because it has twice as many pointed ends.

GOST provides for the use of soft thorn for household fencing, so it is made from annealed wire. The elastic Egoza thread is more rigid and durable, hence the metal thread of a different quality.
In security products, tape is a metal strip whose edges are sharpened and have damaging properties. But it is of little use as an independent element and is more often used as part of a combined product.
Combined is a type of product that simultaneously includes a thread with pointed ends and a metal strip, which are formed into a single structure on a single base. AKL is the name given to reinforced razor tape rolled onto a durable flexible steel core.
Example of placement of a combined option
It implies an increased level of safety, since it is practically indestructible from metal. Fidget is a reinforced barbed wire, which is classified as a combined complex structure. It consists of a metal strip with sharp damaging edges and a core made of a certain type of steel, manufactured in accordance with the relevant GOST. (3559-75 or 14918-80).
The thickness of galvanized steel ranges from 0.5 to 0.55 mm. The core is allowed from 2.5 to 4 mm in diameter.
Installation subtleties
Thanks to this, AKL reinforced barbed wire of the Egoza type practically eliminates the potential possibility of damage by any devices, including metal scissors, wire cutters and even an ax.
Egoza barbed wire twisted type
Twisted Egoza barbed wire, or reinforced twisted Egoza barbed tape, has a slightly less durable design than crimped Egoza - the barbed tape simply wraps around the steel wire. ASCL Fidget, thanks to the use of non-deformed razor tape, has a more aggressive appearance, but due to the same design, it has a number of disadvantages. The design of the twisted Egoza allows you to cut the barbed tape, for example, with metal scissors, and unwind it on a certain piece of barbed wire, exposing the core.
Description
The main purpose of the fence is to stop the movement of an animal or person along a previously chosen route. In the case of cattle, this is leaving the walking area. For people:
- preventing entry into someone else's territory in order to seize property or secrets;
- protection against anti-vandal actions;
- restricting access to areas with substances harmful to health - industrial landfills, reservoirs, etc.;
- fencing an industrial zone with working mechanisms and for solving other similar problems.
In general terms, barbed wire is a wire-tape structure with short, pointed, piercing-cutting edges sticking out in different directions. The latter, digging into the body of an animal or person, create unpleasant irritating sensations. This feeling stops further progress.
Types of structures
The protective product is made of steel. Based on their composition, types of barbed wire are divided into:
- Wire construction. Made in the form of a metal thread (cord):
- Homogeneous. It consists of pieces of wire, parts of which are woven in such a way as to ensure an inextricable connection. The pointed ends are directed to the sides.
Corrugated. The flexible parts are a “pigtail” woven into a strand. Two wires are used. The number of protruding sharp ends in one node increases to four.
According to the degree of hardness, the thorn is divided:
- Soft. Made from annealed wire. It is characterized by increased flexibility, bends easily, and is convenient for installation. It is used for fencing small areas, more often for domestic needs.
- Elastic . Has increased rigidity and strength. Used when there are long spans.
The classic type of barbed wire is produced according to GOST 285-69 standards.
- ASKL is a reinforced twisted razor tape twisted around a load-bearing reinforcing wire. The disadvantage is that the barbed strip can be dismantled quite easily, providing passage.
AKL – reinforced razor tape. The latter is rolled (wrapped lengthwise) on a power flexible rod. The design successfully resists mechanical stress. It is almost impossible to destroy it with a cutting tool. The barbed element is difficult to separate from the flexible power core.
This type of barbed fence has another common name - EGOZA (GYURZA, CONCERTINA).
Reinforced razor tape Egoza crimped type
Egoza crimped barbed wire, or reinforced Egoza barbed tape, is the most effective type of barbed wire today. AKL Egoza is a steel core made of spring or rope wire, around which a stamped razor tape made of galvanized rolled steel is pressed using special rolling equipment. After crimping the AKL Egoza razor tape, it is an almost solid structure - the razor tape is attached to the core so firmly that it cannot be separated from the wire. Moreover, compression of the razor tape increases the effective diameter of the Egoza core and increases the already greater strength of the Egoza ACL base.
How is the “thorn” made?
A reinforced steel tape with spikes is screwed onto a specially designed metal drum. The coils of wire are fastened with steel staples made of stainless steel. When such a spiral is stretched, a cylindrical impenetrable barbed barrier is formed.
In specialized stores you can purchase prickly products of several types:
- Monobasic. This hardware is made of galvanized metal wire. It has evenly spaced spikes made of similar wire, but of smaller diameter.
- Double base tape. For manufacturing, two wire bases are used, which are located in parallel. Moreover, the spikes have a spiral shape. They simultaneously fix both bases, performing a security function.
To extend the service life of the product, it is zinc plated.
This layer allows you to use this wire for many years. It can be dismantled and installed in another place for many years. Galvanized material almost never corrodes and does not require special fasteners. Delivery of “prickly” hardware is carried out in coils. The length of the wire does not exceed 600 meters. The mass of the bay is within 50 kg.
Application of Egoza
Fidget is used to create effective perimeter protection for various objects - from private property or a shopping center to a large enterprise, airport or nuclear power plant. Depending on the conditions at the protected site and security requirements, various types of Egoza and Egoza barbed barriers of various designs can be used to protect the territory. The easiest way to use Egoza is to make a fence, when Egoza is stretched into one thread in several rows. In this case, only crimped Egoza is used; due to its design, twisted Egoza barbed wire cannot be used in the form of single threads or to create Egoza fences - in this case, the barbed tape can be removed from the base in fairly large sections.
But the most effective way to protect the territory is to use Egoza as part of barbed barriers. Several types of Egoza barriers are widely used - the spiral security barrier SBB Egoza, the flat security barrier PBB Egoza and the razor mesh Egoza. There is also a mobile version of the spiral barrier - Egoza MBB, as well as other, more effective designs of Egoza barriers. Both crimped Egoza and twisted Egoza barbed wire can be used in fence designs. When used in the construction of a spiral or flat safety barrier ASKL Egoza has almost the same efficiency as the crimped AKL Egoza, but with high requirements for the protection of the territory, preference should still be given to the Egoza crimped type.
Product purpose
“Thorn” Egoza, supplied to almost all countries of the post-Soviet space, is not one or even several types of barbed wire from a popular brand. The offered range helps in almost any case when the territory requires high-quality protection from outside penetration.

In an industrial volume - to protect areas with potentially hazardous substances (industrial zones, landfills, specialized storage facilities) or to prevent entry with the intent to destroy, steal, take possession of property or classified information.

Options for wire fastening brackets
They are divided into the following types:
- Straight - this bracket is needed to attach a spiral, which needs to be installed in several rows, or a spiral fence is installed. If there is not enough material, it can only be used for the top of the pillars, which are used as support.
- L-shaped - this type is used when installing a security cable in 2-3 rows. The bracket has tight lines and should be placed inside or outside the fence. It also has a spiral tape attached to it.
- Y-shaped, you need to install a volumetric spiral or mount a sharp spiral in 2-3 rows.

Reinforced "twist"
This “tooth” is a thin steel strip with a given and variable profile along its entire length. The edges of the tape are unusually sharp, almost like a razor.
