Classification of turning tools by type of design
Depending on the design features of the tool, the following types can be distinguished:
- The cutters are also divided according to the type of holder: (for example, 16*10, 16*12, 16*16, 20*12, 20*20, 25*16, 25*25, etc.)
- monolithic - such cutters are of one-piece construction - solid (can be made of high-speed steel R6M5, R18, R12, etc.);
- prefabricated - the most popular type of tool, where the head is soldered from a steel plate in order to increase the efficiency of metalworking;
- prefabricated with a plate secured mechanically - in this case the plate is secured to the head with a bolt;
- adjustable.
- brazed plates and replacement plates for cutters are divided into grades of alloys (VK8, T5K10, T15K6, etc.). Sometimes, instead of digital markings, color markings are used. Each alloy has its own color:
VK8 – red
T5K10 – green, etc.
