Determining the weight of rolled metal

The rolled metal weight table allows you to quickly and conveniently calculate the cost of the required volume of metal before purchasing. Such tables contain weights and formulas for calculating the cost of rolled metal. Today, there are special websites that allow you to perform all the necessary calculations. Such sites are also called calculator sites. Weight of rolled metal, table, calculator provides the opportunity to calculate the volume of rolled metal, so that in the future you can select the most suitable transport in terms of dimensions. It is important to remember that the following metal products exist:

  • Fittings;
  • Pipe;
  • Corner;
  • Channel;
  • Valve.

A calculator is used for all of the above products to calculate the weight of rolled metal. The most difficult calculation is for the corners. This is justified by the fact that there are several types of this product made from shaped rolled products. To simplify calculations, there is a special table that shows the values of the most popular sizes and volumes of products. In order to use this table correctly, you need to know the initial values, namely the length and weight of a linear meter.

Types of rolled metal by production method

The production of rolled metal is carried out in rolling mills (blank, sheet, section, pipe rolling and others). Depending on the temperature of the billet deformation process, a distinction is made between hot rolling (above recrystallization temperatures), warm and cold rolling (below recrystallization temperatures). For steel billets, regardless of the planned profile, the first stage of deformation is hot rolling. Softer non-ferrous metals and alloys can be immediately processed at temperatures below the threshold of recrystallization processes.

After hot rolling, products with low surface quality (scale is present) and dimensional parameters are obtained. To remove scale, various methods of mechanical and chemical treatment are used. Cold deformation technologies (rolling, broaching) make it possible to obtain products of precise shape and size.

Feet to Centimeters Calculator | How many cm in a foot

Convert ft to cm

1 Foot (ft) = 30.48 Centimeters (cm)

Feet A foot (denoted as "ft") is a unit of length. A foot is equal to 0.3048 m or 12 inches and is used in English and US units. The unit foot is derived from the English word "foot".

Centimeters The centimeter (denoted as “cm”) is a unit of length in the metric system, it occupies an equal position in importance and prevalence with the gram and second in SI. The centimeter (0.01 (or 1E-2) meters) is the most commonly used measure of length.

Types of rolled metal by material of manufacture

Types of non-ferrous metals and alloys used in the production of rolled metal:

  • Aluminum and alloys based on it belong to the category of lightweight materials. Most often, it is not the metal itself that is used, but alloys based on it: duralumin, manganese and magnesium-containing. In duralumin alloys, the main alloying component is copper. Aluminum and its alloys are characterized by the following advantages: low weight (the density of aluminum is approximately 3 times lower than that of steel), ease of processing, and corrosion resistance, which is increased by cladding—coating the surface with high-frequency aluminum. The main areas of application of these materials are aircraft manufacturing, mechanical engineering, and construction.
  • Copper and alloys based on it . The most popular types of copper alloys are brass (whose main components are copper and zinc) and bronze (whose main components are copper and tin). These materials are characterized by high thermal and electrical conductivity, resistance to the appearance and development of corrosion, resistance to low and high temperatures, and ultraviolet radiation.

The following types of steel are used in the production of rolled steel:

  • Undoped . Steels belonging to this category are often called “black”. They contain: iron, carbon, standard impurities, alloying components, the total amount of which does not exceed 1%. Depending on the percentage of carbon, these steels are divided into low-carbon (C up to 0.25%), medium-carbon (C - 0.25-0.6%), high-carbon (C - 0.6-2.0%).
  • Low alloyed . Low-alloy steel grades contain alloying elements, the total percentage of which is no more than 2.5%. Additives present in the composition serve to improve the required qualities of the metal - strength, toughness, resistance to low and high temperatures.
  • Alloyed . The composition contains alloying additives - more than 2.5% of the total amount of all components. This category includes the following brands: stainless (at least 13% chromium), heat-resistant, heat-resistant, acid-resistant.

These products are sold in 6 meter lengths. However, if necessary, they are cut into fragments of 1 meter, 2 meters, and so on. Accordingly, when calculating weight, you should focus on 1 linear meter of the product.

You should indicate several basic values for the weight of the profile pipe:

  1. With a minimum cross-section of 1 centimeter and a minimum thickness of 1 mm, the weight of 1 linear meter of the product will be 269 grams;
  2. By increasing the size to 2 centimeters and the thickness to 1.5 mm, the weight of the product will increase and amount to 841 grams;
  3. If it is equal to 10 centimeters, and the size of the walls reaches 8 mm, the weight of the product will be equal to 22 kilograms;
  4. With a maximum size of 18 centimeters and a maximum thickness of 1.4 cm, the mass of the products will reach 70 kilograms per 1 linear meter.

The described characteristics comply with GOST standards.
