  • soldering of complex-profile components is possible;
  • there is no need to look for a nozzle for a hot air gun for a specific microcircuit;
  • During soldering, no radio components are blown away by heated air flows from the printed circuit board;
  • The soldering area heats up very evenly.


Infrared stations are not cheap and are considered equipment for true professionals. Beginners in soldering and radio electronics for the most part do not use such devices.

  • For power supply, the best option would be a stabilized 24V 2-4A power supply from one large eastern store or a converted ATX power supply. Although I used 24V 1.2A from the printer, it gets a little warm when using a soldering iron, but it’s enough for me. At worst, a transformer with a diode bridge, but I don’t recommend it.

Flux selection


It should be added that in the future, for work, the owner of the soldering machine will have to constantly purchase consumables, such as flux. And here, too, it is important to make a wise choice.

The functional purpose of the flux is to prevent oxidation of the surfaces being soldered.

There are a lot of brands of flux in stores, but they are almost always based on the same ingredients. This can be pine or spruce rosin, an alcohol solution of rosin, or a special soldering acid (it is considered the most powerful and active).

Due to the variety of types of soldering equipment, choosing a soldering device that best suits the tasks at hand can be difficult. When planning to purchase this or that model, we advise you to first study their technical capabilities and the scope of application recommended by the manufacturer.

Home craftsmen who have to perform small operations with a soldering iron often find themselves in a situation where the sensitive elements of the device overheat, but they cannot do anything about it due to the inability to correctly adjust the temperature of the working tip .

Those who encounter this quite often should definitely consider purchasing a soldering station with a hair dryer instead of a regular soldering iron.

However, you should not expect that after purchasing a soldering station with a thermal stabilization system you will be able to provide yourself with comfortable working conditions.
