Which staple gun should you choose for your home?

When choosing a stapler, you should pay due attention to the strength of the intended stapler, the practicality of its use (ergonomics, weight, time it takes to put the device into operation). If you need to work with a stapler for quite a long time, it would be right to abandon the manual stapler in favor of electric staplers (powered by electricity or batteries).

The best cordless staplers

Cordless staplers receive power from a battery that is powered by an electric motor. The latter affects the impact mechanism. This does not require constant effort from the operator and helps to increase operating time. Here are some of the best models in this rating category with good reviews and characteristics.

BOSCH PTK 3.6 Li 0.603.968.120

Rating: 4.9

The first place in the rating here is occupied by a product from Bosch. The cordless stapler features an extended spout for easy precise positioning. The charging indicator shows how much energy is left in the 1.3 A/h battery. The model is extremely comfortable to hold. The handle is completely rubberized, and the trigger is designed for two fingers. The protrusion at the top of the body helps to rest well on the tool. The motor and feed mechanism are located at the bottom, which creates perfect balance. The side window provides good visibility of the fastener stock. Along with the stapler, the manufacturer supplies a battery and 1000 staples. In one minute the device is capable of making up to 30 blows. In reviews, owners report that the stapler easily penetrates fabric, leather, cardboard and chipboard.

In our opinion, the product is worthy of a place in the rating due to the presence of the Push+Release system. This means that the power tool will fire only when the nose is firmly pressed against the surface and the start button is pressed at the same time. If the spout does not rest, then the trigger button does nothing, and this increases protection against accidental operation.

Advantages

  • battery charging indicator;
  • extended spout;
  • viewing window to monitor store fullness;
  • 1000 staples included;
  • battery capacity 1.3 A/h.

Flaws

  • high price;
  • weighs 800 g;
  • the force of impact is not adjustable;
  • The bulky body interferes with work in narrow niches.

What to look for when choosing

Before you start working with the tool, you should become familiar with its operation. So, before you start working with an automatic stapler, you need to first adjust it. To achieve the desired result, test fittings are used, on which a pair of test doublets are produced. When changing the adjustment of the tool, you should insist on the desired outcome and only after that proceed to transfer to the final fittings.

The choice of device is made based on the type of upcoming lesson. For example, a manual stapler will be useful for upholstering sofas or chairs. To make fittings for furniture, pliable wood is used. The maximum load that is applied to complete a doublet will be completely sufficient.

If you have to act with more stable fittings, then a manual stapler will not help. For such a service, it is worth acquiring an electric stapler. An electro-pneumatic tool has much more power.

A manual furniture stapler has certain features on which the ease of use completely depends:

  • – Transparent store. Allows you to control the remaining staples in the device.
  • – Impact mass regulator. Allows you to adjust the impact force depending on how dense the material is. This greatly simplifies the work.
  • – Narrow working tip. Ensures shot accuracy.
  • – Locking the trigger mechanism. Helps avoid accidental shooting.
  • – Handle with rubber base. It will help the device not to slip in your hands, and it will be more convenient to work with the equipment.

First of all, you need to decide for what purpose the device is being purchased. If you plan to rarely use it for household purposes, a manual stapler would be the best option. If the device will be used frequently, it is better to buy an electric or battery model. Pneumatic staplers are better suited for repeated use in furniture shops.

A household electric stapler must have a collapsible body. This is necessary in order to clear the instrument of debris and, if necessary, correct minor problems.

The best network staplers

Corded staplers are powered by an electric motor, but receive energy directly from a single-phase 220 V network. This contributes to a more compact body and reduces weight compared to battery-powered products, but limits maneuverability. The operator will need an extension cord to work on a ceiling or along a long wall. Here is a ranking of the best devices in this category.

BOSCH PTK 14 EDT 0.603.265.520

Rating: 4.9

We gave the first place in the rating in the category of network staplers to Bosch PTK 14 EDT. The unit is made in a D-shaped body and is equipped with rubber pads on the handle and engine compartment. Power adjustment is located on the lower part in the form of a large wheel. The electronics precisely set the impact value, which helps to carefully drive fasteners into soft materials and confidently drive nails into hard wood. The device weighs 1.1 kg and makes up to 30 blows per minute. The size of staples is acceptable from 6 to 14 mm. Experts in reviews praise the stapler for its quiet operation and powerful blows. This is a professional tool for comfortable use. Another advantage of the model is its compatibility with nails.

We placed the product in the rating due to the presence of the double strike function (DuoTac). You can select the mode on the top of the case, where there is a switch with an intuitive designation. In this mode, the device drives two staples into one place at once, which increases tensile strength. This is useful for fixing roofing materials and films where there is increased wind load.

Advantages

  • 1000 staples as a gift;
  • soft pad on the handle;
  • controlled execution of a blow with the nose resting;
  • store stock indicator;
  • smooth power adjustment.

Flaws

  • short wire 1.5 m;
  • high price;
  • bulky body;
  • soft metal base.

How convenient is a construction stapler and what is the principle of its operation?

The main part of the stapler for construction work is the impact mechanism. It is he who takes on the entire load, and for this there is a tightly compressed spring (flat spring or coiled spring). If the stapler is mechanical, then you need to cock the spring mechanism using your own muscles. In electric models, the engine does this work for you, but in pneumatic models, it has a slightly different design (we’ll look at it later, in a separate paragraph).

To put the tacker into “combat readiness”, cock the trigger or move the special lever to the far position. This action allows the striker to release, and then remove the staple from the pack and hammer it into the desired place. When the staples run out, they need to be replenished by loading them into a special magazine according to the same principle as a regular office stapler.

But the models of construction staplers are more varied than their stationery relatives. In particular, there are those where the staples are not only driven in, but also bent due to the presence of a counter part - an “anvil”.

Mechanical type construction stapler.

Largely thanks to this design and unique operating principle, the construction stapler has become widely used.

It's time to highlight the positive qualities of a tacker for construction work:

  • If, without having a tacker, you work with a hammer the old fashioned way, then the work will take several times longer.
  • Thanks to the design of the construction stapler, one hand remains free when working. This is very convenient - for example, when working at height and standing on a stepladder, you can stick to it.
  • There is no need to press hard on the tacker. Standing on the same stepladder will help you maintain your balance more easily than when working with a simple hand tool.
  • Even after working for several hours, you will not get very tired when connecting parts and materials - after all, minimal physical effort will be required.
  • Even if the part being nailed is springy, the stapler, unlike a hammer, can easily handle it.
  • In inconvenient places where it is difficult for a hand to fit through, it is quite possible to work as a tacker.
  • Accurate and precise impact transmission saves the surface from damage. For example, this is very important when working with glass. The tool does not vibrate, so no scratches or chips will appear.
  • Since consumable items can be very diverse (staples, nails, screws), the functionality of the stapler is increased. Another advantage is that these consumables are not affected by corrosion.
  • Since there are very few moving parts in the device, there is nothing special to break. Therefore, the tacker lasts a long time, and working with it, as well as maintenance, is very simple.
  • All parts with sharp edges are securely hidden under the body, so you won’t cut or break your fingers. And electric staplers also have fuses.
